Better late than never, right? Today, we're reviewing Trader Joe's Milk Chocolate Macadamia Nut Laceys Cookies.
No description on the package, but lacey-type cookies are typically a crispy, thin cookie made with oats and sandwiched together with chocolate. This rendition has no oats, but chopped macadamia nuts. An 8-ounce package (about 10 cookies) costs $3.99.
A mom's (my) take: Maybe it's the macadamia nuts, maybe it's the milk chocolate, but these Laceys Cookies are unlike others I've fallen in love with in the past. I don't get much chocolate taste here at all...mainly a caramel-toffee flavor. I think an extra pinch of salt on top would have helped make these more interesting. I didn't even finish one cookie. For a cookie monster like me, that's saying something. The texture and crispness, however, are spot on.
Overall rating: 2.5 of 5 stars
A teenager's (kiddo's) review: Well, I don't know what mom is talking about. I love these! The first flavor to hit was the nutty, macadamia flavor. Then, the rich, milk chocolate hit- for me, this was the substance of the cookie. Lastly, the slightly salty and slightly chewy caramel/toffee-ish flavor is the last to come, leaving the taster with a long-lasting and pleasant aftertaste (that was a mouthful!(no pun intended)).
