And now, we continue on with the pumpkin...
This week, we review Trader Joe's Pumpkin Seed Brittle. You'll see on the packaging that this brittle is dusted with sugar and pumpkin pie spice. A 10-ounce box costs $3.49.
A mom's (my) take: To be honest, I didn't like this when I first tried it. I couldn't put my finger on why, so before writing my review this morning, I ate a bit more. (I suffer for my craft. Haha.) Well, I liked it today...and here's what I discovered: the roasted pumpkin seeds add SO much to this brittle, and there's not enough of them. If you get a piece without the seeds, or with a very few, the brittle is definitely lacking. WITH lots of seeds, you get the roasty, toasty flavor of the seeds, along with a nice crunch, which is a beautiful pairing with the sugar and spices. Bottom line, this brittle needs more seeds!
Overall rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
A teenager's (Jack's) take: I enjoy this brittle because it is very flavorful. On the outside, there is a sort of sugary coating that is, well, sugary, and that brings out a super sweet, but very authentic, pumpkin flavor. Once that subsides and your taste buds get to working on the substance of the brittle itself, a flavor comes out which is the salty/savory side of pumpkin flavor. Again, it's very authentic. The combination of these two sides makes for an awesome flavor. I'm not a huge brittle fan, but I could probably eat a good deal of this before I had to stop due to the sheer sweetness. (P.S.: as with some sweets like this, it can get stuck to your teeth a bit, so be careful!)

Trader Joe's Pumpkin Seed Brittle: we liked it, but it wasn't one of our top pumpkin picks
