We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
It seems like forever since we've reviewed a Trader Joe's goodie on the blog! Between the school musical (yay, Bye Bye Birdie), college applications, and traveling over Thanksgiving week, we've been a little out of pocket. Forgive us?
This week's review is of Trader Joe's Chocolate Chai & Almond Bar. The bar costs $2.99. TJ's says this is "milk and dark chocolate combined with spiced chai tea and almonds."
A mom's (my) take: This bar is perfection. Just enough spice to make it taste like the holidays. The milk chocolate is creamy and rich and the dark chocolate drizzle makes the bar look extra special. Whole almonds add big crunch.
Overall rating: 5 of 5 stars
A teenager's (Jack's) take: Although I wouldn't know what chai tastes like, I think this bar sticks to its name pretty well. The blend of milk & dark chocolate is both aesthetically pleasing and tasty. There are plentiful almonds, which is great, other than the amount that gets stuck in your teeth. Despite all this, it seems like there's something missing. Sure, it tastes pretty good, but there's virtually no aftertaste, and there is no "wow" factor or extra flavor that really comes through. So, I'd eat this if it was lying around, but I probably wouldn't go out and buy it.
Overall rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Trader Joe's Chocolate Chai & Almond Bar: Split decision!
