Because we've been so neglectful, because we (ok, I) feel guilty, because we've been meaning to review this bar for two weeks now, we're bringing you TWO Trader Joe's reviews this week. Yay!
I hope you all ran out and bought the Brownie Crisp Coffee Ice Cream Sandwiches from yesterday's review. I really thought Jack was onto something with his "morning ice cream sandwiches" bit. Can we make that a thing?
Today we're reviewing Trader Joe's Marbled Mint Crunch Chocolate Bar. It'll set you back $1.99.
A mom's (my) take: This bar was very reminiscent of Andes Mints...you know those thin chocolate mints sometimes at the host stand of a restaurant? You start with one and then end up grabbing 4 more because they're a mint and have no calories? Those. Anyway, this bar tastes to me like an Andes Mint, but not as quite as good. I'd really like more mint flavor and more crunch from the cookie crumbles. Maybe if the bar was cut into small pieces, wrapped in green foil, and given out at restaurants it would taste more magical. Extra .5 points because it was made in Ireland.
Overall rating: 3.5 of 5 stars
A teenager's (Jack's) take: This bar is perfect! The mix of mint and chocolate is such that you can taste the mint as soon as you bite in, yet the mint enhances the chocolate flavor by "cooling" it down. Also, this has the effect of making the chocolate less filling, which means you are perfectly entitled to eat the whole thing.
Overall rating: 5.5 out of 5 stars
Trader Joe's Marbled Mint Crunch Chocolate Bar: you be the judge!
