I hope you're not tired of these Trader Joe's reviews. We're certainly not tired of trying all of these new goodies.
Today, our review is of Trader Joe's Chocolat en Croute. It's described as "a puff pastry dessert filled with almond cream and chocolate." You'll find this in the freezer section, and it requires about 45 minutes of baking.
She says: This might be my favorite treat from Trader Joe's EVER. The first thought that occurred to me upon eating it was that if I was in the movie Love Actually, I'd be standing in front of this pastry holding a sign that reads, "To me, you are perfect." The pastry is buttery and flaky. The filling is the perfect marriage of almond and chocolate. Served warm, it is utterly delightful. I'm smitten.
Overall rating: 10 of 5 stars (yes, I can do that)
He says (Jack): WOW! This stuff is amazing! This could have come out of a French patisserie, and I wouldn't have known the difference. The almonds are a nice touch, and the chocolate being a little chunky is definitely an interesting twist as opposed to being purely melted.
