Sweet on Trader Joe's Sunday : Apple Cider Donuts

Happy Sunday, friends! We hit Trader Joe's right after Mass this morning. We were getting hangry. Last week when Mr. E suggested trying the donuts, I looked at the calories (320) and said no. This week, it was..."yes, and maybe let's have two!"

All of the photos were taken IN OUR CAR because we couldn't even wait to get them home to try them.

You'll find Trader Joe's Apple Cider Donuts in the baked goods section. In our store, that's at the back of produce. They're cake donuts made with apple cider and coated in cinnamon sugar. A box of 6 donuts is $3.99.

He says: It's been a while since I've had a donut, let alone a cake donut. And this was a first for me from TJ's. It was moist and generously coated with sugar. Perfect texture, great shape, but the flavor was a bit ho-hum. I'd still eat another one without being forced, but if it were part of an assortment, I'd go with another choice.

She says: My favorite donuts are cake donuts (I can skip a traditional glazed any time), so these are right up my donut alley. That sounds weird. Apple Cider Donuts are not a thing here in Texas, so these are my gateway...and I approve. A slight hint of apple, not too heavy on the cinnamon, sweet and cakey, but not dry. I like that the outside had a bit of a "crust." Yes, please, I'll have another!
