So, I Made the Official Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookies

So, I Made the Official Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookies
You heard that Doubletree released THE cookie recipe while we're all staying-at-home, right? If there's good to come out of this pandemic, it's this.

I've attempted copycat Doubletree cookies before. I'll say that the recipe, thanks to The Little Kitchen, who was inspired by this recipe from Foodgeeks (it's a whole six degrees of separation thing), was pretty, pretty, pretty close.

Where we were ALL off, however, was in the baking method. Official Doubletree cookies bake at 300 (you read that right) degrees and cool on the hot cookie sheet FOR AN HOUR. What?!? This has me seriously re-thinking some other cookie recipes.

The verdict? They were spot-on. Mr. E said that if he were handed one of our homemade ones at the hotel, he wouldn't think twice. He'd assume it was the real thing.

One note...because these have such a long bake time, the dough is sitting out for a while. I noticed that the last couple of batches spread just a bit more and were a bit flatter. (Still delish!) Next time, I think I'll pop that dough in the fridge for a while.

So, I Made the Official Doubletree Chocolate Chip Cookies
Here's the Official Doubletree Cookie recipe in case you haven't seen it. No, this is not a Doubletree hotel-sponsored post, just a Public Service Announcement. The one and only change I made was to press a few chocolate chips into the tops of the cookies before baking.

Oh, and I forgot to take more than a couple of photos - Quarantine Brain!
