Last week, I shared a recipe for my new favorite cranberry dish - Fresh Cranberry Relish

And yes, it will be part of our Thanksgiving meal, but y'all...I'd make it for these open-faced turkey sandwiches alone!

What is a tartine?

A tartine is a fancy, or French, way of saying "open-faced sandwich." It DOES sound fancy, right? Pronounced "taar-TEEN," they are eaten any time of day. They can be as simple as toasted bread topped with butter and jam to meat and cheese to tuna salad, etc.

Our Turkey and Swiss Tartine with Cranberry Relish is simple. And when I say we've been eating it on repeat, try lunch, dinner...and I'm not usually a breakfast eater, but this is calling my name every morning.

Another thing to love about this recipe is that it's easy to make a big batch of them at once!

How to make Turkey and Swiss Tartine with Cranberry Relish

You'll need to start by making the cranberry relish. (Trust me, you'll be so happy that you did!) It'll keep for days in the refrigerator.

sourdough bread toasted and buttered

Toast a slice of sourdough bread and spread lightly with butter. Sourdough is an excellent bread for tartines because it's study but isn't hard to bite into like baguettes can be. And...sourdough is delicious.

Next, top the buttered sourdough with smoked turkey. This can be from the deli or leftover Thanksgiving turkey. Top the turkey with one slice of Swiss cheese. No need to go crazy with the cheese here. One slice is perfect.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper. How cute are these grinders from Sur la Table?!? Thank you, Jack!

Turkey and Swiss Tartine with Cranberry Relish, broil step

Broil for about 2 minutes, turning halfway through and WATCHING that parchment paper!

Top with a generous scoop of fresh cranberry relish. I like to cut my tartines in strips for easy eating.
