Did anyone get the Trader Joe's Fearless Flyer newsletter last week and bookmark every single item? Me, too. I was so overwhelmed that I got home from TJ's and realized I'd forgotten one of the main items I went in for. There's always next week.
I did manage to come home with these, though. Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Roundels. They're described as "dark and milk chocolate patties with creamy peanut butter centers." An 8-ounce box (with 8 pieces) costs $3.49. Each box contains 4 milk chocolate and 4 dark chocolate candies.
She said: It took my brain a second or two to process that I was not, in fact, eating a peppermint pattie. The shape is definitely pattie-ish. Any chocolate/peanut butter-filled combination will always be judged against a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in my mind. I don't try to...it just happens. The milk chocolate version is better (that whole Reese's comparison, I guess). A thick layer of peanut butter filling, good tasting chocolate...I was craving just a *smidge* more salt.
Overall rating: 4.5 (milk) and 4 (dark) of 5 stars
He said: I like peanut butter. I like chocolate. The two together are even harder not to like. These TJ's roundels have a creamy inside just as advertised. I was surprised that I liked the dark chocolate version better than the milk chocolate version. I do have a sweet tooth, but these didn't really work for me. They left me wanting a Reese's PB Cup!
Overall rating: 3 for the dark, 2.5 for the milk chocolate
Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Roundels: A little bit of a mixed bag today.
(pssst...they're marked on the receipt as "holiday," so get them while the gettin's good.)
